The House with Atlants was built in 1882 by the project of architect Vasily Karneev. The building on Solyanka street was distinguished by luxurious interiors and advanced engineering solutions of that time, such as Monnier vaults and an elevator brought from France. On the ground floor, there was a tea shop owned by merchant Rastorguev. Apartments were rented.
The project envisages the preservation of the historical appearance of the building which would house apartments and rental premises. Functionally, the building is divided into several parts. The lower floors are occupied by two-level residences with private patios in the basement. The second and third floors are designed for apartments with access to the main staircase, and the under-roofing floor is reserved for penthouses. There is also an urban villa which is entered in the volume of risalite. It has a separate entrance and a private terrace.
The area around the house was reorganised. The dilapidated buildings, which had no cultural or historical values, were demolished to make space for a cosy courtyard.
